Once we get to the point where we can pinpoint the "gay gene" (I am of the belief that it is genetic), do you think that roe v wade will finally be overturned? Honestly, once we get to that point, pro lifers will have a brand new bloc of supporters in the LBGT community

Some genes are mutations

I think he is saying that if you know a baby is going to be a queer should you abort it.

If there were a singular gene linked to homosexuality, we'd have found it by now. And the people that hate gay people are the same people that want to ban abortion, so, if anything, if there ever were a genetic test for homosexuality, it'd be "Christian" Right backing off of their attempts to overturn Roe v Wade.

I don't hate gay people I just understand that it is a birth defect much like down syndrome but does;t cause mental retardation. It is without a doubt a birth defect because it is abnormal for a man to want to have sex with a man or a woman to want to have sex with a woman, that is just basic biology.

twins have the same genetics. many cases of one being gay and the other not. there are environmental effects that contribute. you might have the " gay gene" yourself, and just haven't encountered the proper environmental/ life effect to set it off.

what if its as simple as accidentally seeing your dad take a piss during a certain development phase? many young sexual assault survivors turn gay.

Who cares? They aren't putting it in my arse so how exactly does homosexuality impact me or my family?

This is a good subject to sort out the wanna-be libertarians from the true believers.

I didn't want to get into a debate about homosexuality. I was just pointing out that I think that's the best chance to overturn roe v wade. Kinda ironic that the Christian Right will depend on the gay community to pass their biggest legislation

It's not genetic. It's nature, nurture and environment.

In super rare cases I'm sure there are probably legitimate genetic things that could cause psychological confusion and imbalances.

People are largely consciously unaware of human sexual fluidity, but subconsciously fully aware. Hence the different uncomfortable reaction towards gay people. Some people, when weak, just seek refuge in what's familiar because they can't seem to find it elsewhere. Life is short and it sucks for all of us at some point.

But that's just like, my opinion... man.

There's no gay gene...amazingly it's a choice, and in some cases an environmental (outside stuff) affect on the biological systems...but still a choice

Then isn’t heterosexuality also a choice?

I find it amusing that everybody in this thread can positively say if there is or is not a gay gene

You can't simultaneously believe in a gay gene and natural selection. Statistically, any gene that had that direct of a negative effect on the production of children would select itself out of the gene pool in relatively short order.

Now you can make the argument that perhaps homosexuality is the result of a genetic mutation - not yet discovered, and not likely to be since the genome has been mapped - but the odds are not in your favor given the twin studies that have been performed to date.

Which leaves it as a the bible describes it, a simple chosen sin like the rest of them humanity has engaged in over the millenia...(with child molestation and single motherhood as potential triggers).

If you reread this I'm quite certain that you will see how utterly moronic this statement is.

I don't think roe v wade will ever be overturned. We will have designer babies before then making the whole "abortion because the baby isn't how you wanted it to be" argument moot. There will still be people aborting, because they are too dumb to not get pregnant accidentally, and we will still live in a society that doesn't encourage people to take responsibility for their actions.
