It's a very weird chart though. And if the waymo car isn't at fault, the data is meaningless. If someone rear ends a driverless cars, the fact that it is driverless has nothing to do with it.

I'm just realizing, there was an actual person behind the wheel here. So it sounds like we still need more details on how it occurred but it is obvious now that both the self driving car AND the human were not able to stop in time here.

But if driverless cars get rear-ended more often than cars with a human driver, that's a problem for driverless cars to address.

If you're involved in 5 wrecks in a year, and none of them are your fault, your insurance is still likely to go up.
