Everyone knows that Jackie Robinson was the first black ML baseball player. Who was the first black NFL player? Who was the first black LSU fb player?

At its inception in 1920, the American Professional Football Association had several African-American players (a total of thirteen between 1920 and 1933). Fritz Pollard and Bobby Marshall were the first black players in what is now the NFL in 1920. Pollard became the first black coach in 1921. However, by 1932 the subsequent National Football League had only two black players, and by 1934 there were none. This disappearance of black players from the NFL effectively coincided with the entry of one of the leading owners of the league, George Preston Marshall. Marshall openly refused to have black athletes on his Boston Braves/Washington Redskins team, and reportedly pressured the rest of the league to follow suit. The NFL did not have another black player until after World War II.

I believe Carl Otis Trimble was the first black football player at LSU. A little before my time, but I remember my dad talking about him. Somebody else can probably confirm this.

The first was Lora Hinton, A RB from Virginia, who signed with LSU in 1971. Carl Otis signed in, I believe, 1973.

You are probably right. I know Trimble from the tragic story of his drowning. For some reason, I thought he was the first black player to sign. Maybe he was the first black QB to sign.

Right. Along with the soul patrol; Chris Williams, Willie Teal, Clinton Burrel and defensive end Lew Sibley. Terry Robiskie and Charles Alexander came along a few years later.

Fritz Pollard and Bobby Marshall were the first two African Americans to play in the NFL in 1920. Pollard played for the Akron Pros and Marshall played for the Rock Island Independants.
Lora Henson was the first African American to receive a football scholarship to LSU and was the first African American to letter in football at LSU.

The first black LSU football player was Mike Williams from Covington High School.
Williams was signed in the 1971 class and was a All American DB for LSU.
Williams was later a 1st round draft pick by the San Diego Chargers.

No he doesn't!
Wikipedia don't know shite! First of all, it was Lora HINTON, not Henson.
According to Dan Hardesty, long time sports editor of the Advocate, he says in his book, The Louisiana Tigers, on page 295 the following-
(Regarding the game against Fla. at Gainesville in 1972): "The highlight of this game was a spectacular defensive effort by sophomore cornerback Mike Williams, the first black football player on LSU scholarship. Williams caught Florida speedster Nat Moore on the one-yard line aftera 79 yd. gallop down the sideline after a screen pass. Williams then recovered a Gator fumble on the next play."
That should end any and all arguments!
I remember that game vividly as the Tigers drove up and down the field on the Gators in a driving rain. However the best anybody could do was kick two fg's for a 3-3 tie. Juan Roca and Rusty Jackson missed a total of 9 fg's for LSU.
