Part of me says to roll with a Ryobi since it won't be a everyday tool. I'm just a very amateur hobbyist at this point so I don't need anything to fancy.

I have just about every Ryobi 18v tool they make. I’ve built a few decks, cut trees with the chain and pole saw, remodeled my house, and threw up 3 large pergolas. Never had an issue. Hard to beat for the $$.

I have the Ryobi and wish I had splurged on the DeWalt. Pros: battery charge time, price. Cons: battery life, power.
