Hot bats? Must admit I have no clue what they look like.

They beat LSU last year in a midweek game and I wouldn't be surprised if that happens again on Wednesday. Other than that? They are a Sun Belt school located in Mobile that carries the USA name with them wherever they go, so that is a pretty cool piece of rundown.

It was called pickle back in the day.

Well, I could be wrong, but I believe diversity is an old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era.

They beat 18th ranked OU and 13th ranked southern miss in a tournament to open the season. They also took 2 out of 3 against UL last weekend and only lost to auburn by 1. However they lost 4 in a row to a top 10 Texas tech squad. Not sure what their strengths and weaknesses are but on paper they look good not great.
They were the team last year that was either a 2 or 3 seed in the regional that was paired with ours and many predicted them coming out of it to play us in the supers. They beat miss state in the first game then lost to southern miss and were eliminated by state shortly after IIRC

They usually have a pretty good ball club.
Not really on the level of a typical "midweek team"

I scored a 65 yard touchdown on them in 1997 on a reverse pass.

Travis Swaggerty is in their outfield and was the #18 Pro Prospect for the 2018 draft according to Baseball America.

They climbed to the #11th ranked team in the country before hitting a 5 game losing streak.
They are becoming a perennial top 20 program.

They are very capable of beating LSU. Really should have been in super regionals last year. Probably best team in Alabama

Mainieri said Swaggerty will be a 1st round pick this year. He also said they missed on him.

My brother played for them in the 90s. He hates LSU because every time they made the tournament, they had to come to Baton Rouge and pitch us batting practice. That and hes a dumb arse gump. lol

Jerome Walton went there. He won the 1989 Rookie of the year with the Cubs. As did Luis Gonzalez, who had the game winning hit in the D-back game 7 win over the Yankees.

your post caused me to check their RPI Rank.

They lost their 3 year all USA Conf starting SS (Drew LaBounty) for the season & career due to a freak batting practice injury several weeks ago. He checked swinged and foul tipped it into his eye. Lost vision permanently, kept his eye. Reconstructive surgery to the socket.
Having said that, they’re still pretty damn good.
