No no no, didn’t you know that Les Miles was the coach of the 06 team? To the Rant no team coached by Les Miles ever underachieved

Thanks for proving my point

And I’m not sure what rant you read, but I’ve seen a rant that thinks Les Miles is the worst coach ever and never won a single game, all were won on sheer talent that we only got because of Saban and when he left the program was in such shambles we only won 9 game. Of course for those like you that think he’s the worst coach ever any defend his record is unjustified and could be mistaken for saying he never did wrong.

. It doesn’t matter that the 06 team had 10x the talent that the 98 team had,

Well the 98 team started #9 and was ranked as high as #6 and finished 4-7. The 06 team started #8 and finished #3 (again at the time only the 5th top 3 finish in school history). So if you find that disappointing, more disappointing then going from #6 to unranked then I’d argue you have standards that are unreasonable and or just hate the coach

And you’d be wrong, I met Gerry Dinardo a couple times while he was HC here and I really like the man. Anyone who followed LSU back then knew the 98 team was in trouble. The defense had very little talent and the offense was good but Herb wasn’t the kind of QB that could win shootouts. The worries turned into reality way before the losses as Idaho ran up and down the field on us during an early season win. After that game those of us who actually witnessed that era and paid attention to football knew it was going to be a long season.
