A couple of friends have been to several of the camps, and they say the Fields kid from Metairie consistently outperforms Gunnell. Why is the Fields kid not receiving any SEC offers? I know he is under six feet tall, so that will go against his stock. Anybody have any insight?

Height is a dealbreaker for a lot of coaches. Just look at how many QBs are even ranked at that height. Coaches put a lot of stock into their own abilities, so they'd rather take someone with the raw tools to succeed over someone who isn't as naturally gifted but seems to already be playing the game at a higher level.

That Fields kid is probably going to go overlooked no matter how well he does. He only has 1 offer. He may turn into a Todd Reesing type though, who knows.

And I hate that.

Yeah, inches do matter. But when the entire OL and most of the opposing DL is taller than your QB, does it matter that much.

And hell, look at Peyton Manning. He's what... 6'6", but his eye level is like 6'1" with that 'fivehead' he has.
