I was always taught, before giving your personal opinion, ask yourself three questions: Is what you're about to say necessary? Is it the truth? Is it uplifting? If you cant answer yes to these questions, just keep your mouth shut, because you're going to gossip, lie or demean someone's character.
Sadly, some people just lack common decency and courtesy.
It doesn't cost anything to be nice to people.
