It's a results based process. If we do well this year and Cregg can get the OL to gel it will certainly make LSU more attractive. Cregg also brings NFL cred so that is a plus as well.

If we can show Green that we are adding 2/3 RB targets, have an improved offense and an OL coach that knows how to develop him and get him to the NFL then we have a solid shot. Kardell selling the program also helps.

Just gotta let the process play out.
yep, agreed.

Two things that I think will (and should) play into that process:

1. We will play Shepherd off of Green. Depth chart arguments, early playing time, etc.

2. With NFL experience comes NFL bias (in a good sense). Shepherd is a slightly better NFL prospect from a physical build aspect (see this excellent fresh off the presses recruiting article LINK).

If you combine the two, then you tell Shepard he should be rated higher (that's what the 5* is for, NFL prospects) and that we, LSU, recognize that because we, LSU, have Cregg. So come here and be THE tackle of the future instead of being behind the higher rated Green.

It doesn't matter which one will be better, because no one knows and they both will probably be pretty freaking good. The point is we can combine these factors into a 'sales pitch' and hopefully pull one of the two (I'd be happy with either):
A) both leaning to same school, as OTs
B) NFL wise, the lower rated OT is a better prospect
C) Green has already had and left behind interest in us
D) we have that NFL pedigree (somewhat) to back those up
