You are so misinformed it's funny.

Everything the knights do in terms of public service and fundraising is 100% transparent.

The things that are in secret are details, initiations, virtues, etc that outside people don't really need to know.

quote:

I don’t want to feel like I’m being invited to an Amway meeting or a Timeshare sales meeting. Those are profit making entities so I understand the need for sneaky, secretive strategies to lure people in it

This comparison proves you don't know what you're talking about. The knights don't sell anything to anyone outside of a fundraiser a council might have. Ours does a meat and cheese sale for instance. It's not a pyramid scheme or a sales organization.

It started so there would be life insurance available for men in high risk jobs so their families would be taken care of if the men died. The insurance is only available for members only and you don't even have to get it. There's no product being sold outside of the council.

What clued you in Captain Obvious? Was it the questions I was asking? Your sharp detective skills led you conclude that asking to be informed is a sign of being misinformed, huh? Can’t get nothing past you.

Now we’re back to this again. You’re not really addressing the need for secrecy by claiming other people don’t need to know these things. You’re avoiding the issue. I want to know these things before joining. Is it accurate that these are kept secret to get more people to show up for that first meeting?

Maybe you can set me straight on what I’m starting to conclude. Tell me if the following observation is wrong.

The Men’s Club is for Catholic Men who like to have a social organization that performs acts of charity as part of their religion.

The Knights of Columbus is for Catholic men who like to have a social organization that performs acts of charity as part of their religion, but they also like to play dress-up, develop an organizational ranking with nebulous requirements that may differ from organization to organization, and they like the idea of presenting themselves as a secret society, for whatever status that may confer.

Yes, I am asking because I am not well informed.
