Looking for a new book, just finished The Stand which I wasn't too crazy about and have heard some things about this one. Anybody vouch for it?

I read it when it first came out and I loved it. Was actually thinking of doing a re-read.
The book covers 20 or so years of the narrators very colorful life, so there's a lot in it -NYC socialites, vegas stripper types, artsy bohemians, criminals, law enforcement. It's great - I highly recommend you give it a try. It's very long, but that's a good thing.

I also thought it was very good. First 20 or so pages are kind of confusing but it flies after that.

Possibly my girlfriend’s favorite and that’s saying a lot.
I’ve read Secret History by Tartt, which was also great.

Read it. Loved it. The plot is just enticing enough to keep you interested, the characters are what you will fall in love with.
It was marketed a couple different ways, but two-thirds of the book is about the protagonist as a teenager.
