This has been implemented at at least one private college in central Florida. The chosen faculty members go through a thorough selection process, and are highly trained for their specific mission. They consist of professors, administrators, and staff members.

Not every employee carries a firearm, only those in the program.

The ones who carry firearms are kept strictly confidential, and they carry concealed. Students have no idea who they are. The program, however, is not confidential. In fact, it’s advertised.

There are some similar programs in Texas. The concept is simple: train volunteer faculty members, but keep their identities secret. Advertise the program. Simple deterrent. These shooters hit soft targets for a reason...lack of resistance. A school advertising a covertly-armed staff presents the resistance that these shooters fear.

my neighbors have a security system sign in their yard but don't have a security system. And they've never been robbed. So just advertise "Our Teachers Pack Heat". Put a couple of signs in the yard. That oughta be enough.
