Good health insurance and a LT & ST disability policy is enough imo. Unless you need to insure pain and suffering

Don't you have a family baw with young kids? A buy up is only 66 2/3rds on a LTD. Even if you have savings, that does nothing but fill in the gaps for pennies on the dollar. I understand the chances are minuscule but something happens to me, I don't want the wife to worry about anything and how we are going to pay for things or my medical care.

I can do my job as long as I can think and type with typing being optional.

ETA: and I can easily live off 2/3 of my income

Yeah but what are you covering yourself against? Looking at your policy you have uninsured motorist liability, and I'm assuming you have health insurance. So you are covered if someone insured or uninsured hurts you. So really you are paying $180/ year for coverage to fill your deductibles? Just seems unnecessary. I think I have it too don't get me wrong.

LTD is usually not taxable if you pay for it after taxes. So, when you take Uncle Sam's hand out of your pocket, that 66 2/3rds is pretty good.
