Great looking deer! I have mounted smaller bucks than that so a “trophy” is truly in the eye of beholder.
I wonder what happened to split his ear? Did you or the taxidermist choose to showcase the split ear? Can’t say I have ever seen a mounts ears in unlike positions.
Either way congrats nice buck. What was the spread?

My good friend mounted it. He placed 1st in the state for amateur taxidermy. The top half of the split war was actually filed down when I killed him. We decided to open it to add to his uniqueness. As far as different ear positions. I told my buddy to do what he wanted. I live it. Kind of a “ just heard something” look. He was a hair over 17” inside.
