Based on what? Losing 6 players off of the two deep?

Lacouture
Gilmore
Herron
Key
Alexander
Thompson

Offensive line should also be improved overall as a unit

Based on what? The two best linemen declared for the draft.

So, not a given. Push.

We drop off at RB and CB

So, a regression.

Improve at safety position

Agree

QB position is unknown at this point

Agree

So, let's break it down:

QB - Push
RB - Worse
WR - Better
TE - Better
OL - Push
DL - Push
LB - Worse
CB - Worse
S - Better

The only way someone can say this team should be "better" is by blatantly ignoring the roster issues. Combine this with the fact that the schedule is much, much tougher in 2018 and you seriously think LSU is going to improve?

Takes a good deal of pessimism to come up with these 3

How is the LB group going to get worse in your opinion?

Lacouture - Shelvin/Fehoko Better
Gilmore - Shelvin/Fehoko better
Herron - Inconsistent
Key - Hurt most of year
Alexander - Was actually pretty damn bad this year
Thompson - Will miss the most out of this list

Devin White and Rashard Lawrence are the best players on the front 7 and both return. We have more depth at LB than people admit and Shelvin/Fehoko + freshmen are going to be an improvement up front. Divinity, Thornton, Anthony, Chaisson, etc. are all very talented guys with another year in Aranda's system.

Alexander/Shelvin/Fehoko/Lawrence will be the best 4 DL's we've had in a long damn time. And Aranda said he wants to run a lot more "peso" which only calls for 2 DL at a time.

This front 7 is going to be special.

I just think our front 7 on defense will improve. We got pushed around by teams up front on defense last year, which was really disheartening. We've got more beef and talent up there IMO.

Our offense could be a disaster with talented, but unproven OL and QB, a weaker than usual RB core, and an OC that is a bargain basement hire. And CB is really thin.

All I heard this past season was how weak CL and Gilmore were. Lawrence and Ed Alexander were the 2 top DL and they were hurt most of 2017. They are healthy now and Fehko who coaches called "unblockable" in scrimmages steps in. Shelvin is a mammonth and will plug the middle along with Ed. We also added good depth on signing day.

Healthy Key is a loss. 2017 Key? Chaisson needs to add weight/strength and technique, but he has the raw skill to be great and showed flashes last year. Cherry and Moore are good WDE prospects as well.

Donnie Alexander was horrible. He was losing PT to Phillips and Taylor. Healthy Thompson is a loss, but Jacoby Stevens is being considered as a safety/OLB hybrid and has the athleticism to be great.

Based on what? The two best linemen declared for the draft.

Ingram and Charles will be seasoned sophmores. Our OL was injured and shuffled the first 5 games of the season. Traore is more athletic than Weathersby and should start immediately. He was the top JUCO OT. Toby was good, but erratic. Clapp will be a loss, but coaches have been pleased with Cushenberry's development. We also got good recruits and depth this year. Magee is capable of starting and Deculus was a high recruit and has some starts under his belt.

So, not a given. Push.

Adding the #1 WR in the nation, a 5 star by some services WR that outperformed the #1 WR at The Opening, adding a 1100yd, 10 TD transfer and returning 5 other WRs that have PT is enough to be optimistic about.

You pretty much agreed the remainder of the OP's post so I'll not reply to those. Of course no one knows how these players will perform, but there is plenty to be encouraged about with this group. Denying it just illustrates a willful attempt to degrade anything LSU in order to maintain a narrative.

I hink We’re better on DL because we’re adding Fehoko and Shelvin. I think They’ll play better than Lacouture and Gilmore who they are replacing. I also Think Lawrence and Alexander improve.

Fehoko Lawrence Alexander should be an improvement over Lacouture Gilmore and Lawrence.

Shelvin will be a good backup or possibly starts. Aranda says good things about him too.
