I love that the most reasonable and accurate comment in the thread also received the most downvotes.
This is what makes PT great.
I love how he calls a specific threat about a school shooting an oddball comment and you say it is reasonable and accurate. He uses a general term to discuss a specific threat.
He lumps in all comments on the internet when the discussion is how do we stop a specific crime.

Outrageous. Just like they knew about Mateen, Ruiz, and the Tsarnaevs. Absolutely outrageous. THIS is what everyone should be talking about. THIS and what is going that began in the late 90s that wasn’t going on before.

I mean, are we jailing this guy long term for a YouTube comment? You interview him- you maybe get lucky and figure something out but more likely you just start a file on the dude and go look into the next crazy comment that was reported.
Exactly. This whole "see something say something" schtick is a load of crap. Are we really going to start getting into minority report pre-crime prevention?

Can this not be flagged in a background check like others?

Let's be real here, do we really expect the government to investigate every oddball comment on the internet?
You mean the government down not have a program that can track FB, instrgram and social media sights for suspects who are reported by a third party and who have pics of guns and masks?
Half the job has been done for the FBI, you had a "see something say something" moment. That should have put this guy into a heighten level on a computer level, where a program or two can track, record, and report warning signs for an analyst to make a call.
With all the info tech out there, FBI has nothing?

It's not possible or practical.
They did follow up with the YouTube. Couldn't they have put some sort of note or flag on his background for the background check to buy a firearm?

FBI says that they passed the information on to the White House and they did nothing about it.
