His problem is he's looking solely at the demand side of the price equation. Sure I can see how you'd say people use their phones enough to justify spending more than $1000 on it. But that's not the only factor in price. If it were, the keyboard I'm typing this post on that is essential to my productivity would cost a lot more than $10-$20. But there is a supply component to the price equation, and because lots of companies compete to make cheap keyboards, I don't have to pay a lot for something that provides immense value to me.
