I think it was definitely high risk based on his history. He has a chance to prove that he has changed and learned some lessons. This season will tell us a lot. He will be breaking in a new QB and many new skill position players that aren't holdovers from Miles. By 2019 it will be mostly all his recruits.

The next 2 years will determine his future or lack thereof at LSU.
