Think about it this way...
A person from the year 1900 would look at the life of an American in 2018 making 55k a year vs. an American making 80k a year and see essentially no difference in quality of life. Both would be off the charts good.
Don't punt your happiness for a few bucks that won't change your standard of living that much in the grand scheme of things.
