quote:

Elliot Rodger, the 22-year-old who killed six students in the college town of Isla Vista in 2014, was the first "alt-right killer" to strike in recent years, according to a new report from the Southern Poverty Law Center.

The report counts Rodger among 13 alleged alt-right killers whose actions left 43 people dead and more than 60 injured since 2014.

quote:

The list also includes Dylann Roof, the white supremacist convicted of fatally shooting nine black members of a Bible study class in South Carolina in 2015.

i think "gender" has more of a solid meaning/definition to the Big Left/progs/Alt-Left than "alt-right" these days

L O L. This dude was anything but alt-right. If you read his manifesto, he's clearly just a deranged person with some weird skewed version of reality. It's a shame, because he really was a pretty damn talented writer...he could have wrote books...but his obsession with being liked by women and trying to get a girlfriend took over his life.

apparently being a beta that's frustrated with women and googling anything related to Nazi Germany makes you "Alt-right"

wonder if they classified the black guy that killed innocent white people in the church in Tennessee last year as “alt left”

it's not even about creating some "equal" tragedy

when your alleged grouping contains Elliot Rodger and Dylan Roof, AND it's allegedly based on politics, then you have a huge concept on your hands.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the SPLC was trying to find a way to link right-wing hate groups to the extinction of dinosaurs.

I don't think mass killers should be labeled as right or left. They're deranged individuals who could probably have latched onto either way of thinking given certain circumstances.

No chance in Hell.

Southern Poverty Law would never call a black man a racist.

Here, I'll do you a solid and put the animating principle of the alt-right in a sentence:

There is no such thing as overreaction to cultural liberalism.

That's the alt-right. The notion that cultural liberalism is an existential threat and therefore any reaction to it is justified up to and including mass killing of those who are responsible for propagating it. That's what Rodger thought, that's what Roof thought, and that's what Breivik thought.

I don't really think the SPLC is a particularly useful or trustworthy organization, and I've disagreed with them on a lot, but I don't fault them for this. If you can give me the daylight between this section of Rodger's manifesto and this BlackPigeonSpeaks video, go right ahead. I don't see it.

i think the over-reliance on Nazi mythology kind of hurts this definition, especially since the beliefs keyed in on and the actual date of the Nazis predate this extreme PC/multiculturalism philosophy

this definition also covers a wide swath of people that are culturally liberal but not the extremist form that many outlets/thinkers want to use as the default "liberalism". that covers Jordan Peterson, Sam Harris, Gad Saad, etc

i'm not going to defend either, but show me the true connection between those 2 and Dylan Roof. that's the issue

I would say cultural Marxist fit his description better

The alt right moniker is as worthless as the word racism or term tea party these days

this section of Rodger's manifesto

I read that section. It has nothing to do with the alt-right or politics at all. It's only about his frustration and characterization of women. It's not even a stretch to equate that writing with the idea that liberalism is a threat; it's just patently false.
