There are actually decent beaches and water way down on the west end.

Also, the Galvestonian is a sweet hotel.

And lastly, Tillman’s Mardi Gras ball is freaking spectacular.

When we go to Galveston we go at least to Jamaica beach or further west. It's plenty good for getting your beach fix. No, it's not like Florida beaches but still fine.

True but for Mardi gras that is a sketchy drive back to the house/cabin.
