Is there a world where----

Is there a world where the AD/Mirotic combo proves to be a great paring and we don't resign Boogie?
I love me some Boogie and in no way am I suggesting that Mirotic is as good of a player as Boogie but considering this massive injury to him, Ad willingness to play center, and the reassurance/injury provisions I hope the Pels try to incorporate into Boogie's contract---is not resigning Boogie a possibility?

Mirotic has never averaged more than 25 mpg. He is a great off the bench rotation player and spot starter. Great.
But he can't handle that load

Been watching Mirotic highlights to hype myself up for this move, you're right he's some nice guard/wing skills. Also 3s off the dribble, haha yay.
Also looking back he used to play with Moore as well, might have decent chemistry with a few guys coming in. Should open up the floor nicely for AD as well. On defense not so good, but given the other option was Dante I don't think the drop off will be that noticeable until we meet a good small ball team.

The only way that happens is if Boogie's rehab goes horribly wrong by July 1st or he chooses to sign with another team. I really don't see either as reasonable concerns. He will make a nice 3rd big and can pair well with either AD/DC. Demps is going all in on #DoItBig in a small ball era.

hummm never even considered the "Mirotic can't handle the minutes scenario"

I see---I know they have this in the NFL--but can contracts in the NBA have like injury or milestone provisions--to where a team can get out of it if the player isn't producing?
Just listening to everyone for the past couple weeks really has me worried about the Pels being locked into a max contract with a player that can't produce anymore like we expeted.

Not really sure what that meme is all about---if you don't think Dell and Co are thinking of alternatives just in case the worst case scenario plays out then you're crazy.
This is a serious injury that most players never recover from and the one's that do are never really the same. Would be extremely irresponsible to not prepare for alternate routes. Even tho I hope we don't have to.

They can but they won't because if we come at Boogie with a contract like that and the Lakers or Mavs don't, Boogie will be insulted and walk. You'd have to KNOW that nobody is going to offer him anything to get a team favorable contract. Both the Lakers and Mavs have shown interest in Cousins in the past. The Lakers former GM got fired after not trading for Boogie, and as recently as about a month ago the Mavs were rumored to be planning to make a run at Boogie this summer. The Lakers are unlikely to get both LeBron and Paul George meaning they'll have cap space burning a hole in their pocket and previous interest in Boogie. The Mavs threw a big money contract at Wes Matthews a few months after he suffered the same injury as Boogie.
So while what you stated is technically possible, it isn't feasible with the market conditions.

I'm honestly not that concerned. He will have to change some things, but a lot of his game is built on size, skill and forcing bigs to do things they aren't good at because of that combo. I think where he has the most potential to lose something isn't dribble penetration to the paint, but once that gets him in the paint where his extraordinary footwork allowed him to side step multiple defenders and get a layup or and one. He'll need to learn to either kick out more often, or do a floater or pull up fadeaway instead of getting all the way to the basket. But as long as he's still good enough to draw double teams and finds new ways to pass out or score on them, he'll be good enough.

Thanks---yea you are right---all that makes sense now that you've laid it out like that. Desperate teams would be willing to take that risk if we came out with a timid offer.

Not resigning boogie would be completely asinine.

About how stupid it would be to not resign boogie bc we like how AD/Mirotic play together... resigning boogie only makes us even better. Pels aren’t going to have a shot at any other elites besides boogie realistically. There is no scenario where you could say we get someone for sure to help our team more than boogie. Unless LeBron James comes walking through that door and that ain’t happening...
