Oklahoma St. losing to Iowa State in 2011.

We could've gone down as the best team in history.

That was beyond our control and external to us.

The impact of that game has been grossly overstated by this board. I believe Alabama would STILL have been selected for the FBSNC game 1/9/2012.

This game quite possibly changed the landscape of college football.

At the time Les was 3-2 vs Saban. Had 1 championship at LSU to 0 for Nick at Alabama. If OKST beats Iowa State, LSU destroys OKST in the championship game, and that LSU team goes down as the best team in history. Les Miles would have been 3-2 vs Saban and would have had had 2 to Sabans 1 Natty at LSU, and Bama has 0 in the BCS era.

Instead, Bama gets the rematch and wins. Les is 3-3 vs Saban and Saban has 2 to Les' 1 Natty. That rematch brought about the playoff system. LSU drops behind Alabama and Nick doesn't look back.

So the opportunity to play OKST in the BCS national championship game was the biggest missed opportunity in the history of LSU sports, and quite possibly college football.

The best team in history has to be able to cross midfield before the game is over vs Bama. The 2011 team could not.

The best team in history has to be able to pick up it’s very first down in the SEC championship game before halfway in third quarter vs a 4 loss Georgia team. The 2011 team could not.

Don’t kid yourself about LSU’s 2011 team being the best team ever. 21-0.

LSU and Miles still did not play that one correct. When Bama fell from 2 to 4, we should have known that a rematch could happen. Miles stating at the end of the Alabama game that playing Alabama again would be an "honor" kind of screwed us. Miles should have been politicking from day one on why rematch should not happen. The LSU administration should have told the chairman of the BCS that we will simply go and play in the sugar bowl as SEC Champs , finish undefeated , and take the AP national championship. We had the bully pulpit and did not use it.
