Such a good update! I’ll be checking in each week for more. I’ve only been to a couple of SEC Gymnastics Tournaments and each time it was incredible to watch.

As far as Desiderio, this routine is extremely watered down compared to her elite routine. Not sure specifically why the hold up on her but we aren't even at midseason so we still have a lot of time to break her in.

I know you know so much more than any of us, but from what I saw at 101, I think they are trying to get her conditioned for floor. She seemed very labored towards the end of that routine.

Not trying to bash the student but it is odd that Ruby has been an olympic athlete competing at the high pressure international level and yet she is struggling with nerves and confidence. I keep wondering how many chances is she going to get when there are others who seem to step up when needed.

357, love coming to see this every week, I really appreciate it.

I did want to ask about routine difficulty. We both know that LSU loves to be the team with the toughest routines in the Nation, which is a blessing and a curse. Watching Ashlyn Kirby is extreme evidence of that because she does not have overly difficult passes and can get you started with 9.85 - 9.875 consistently out of the gate. Do you ever see D.D. turning down some of the difficulty in the routines in order to achieve consistency like OU?

Thanks for the weekly updates. I really enjoy reading about our Tigers. I wish the meet this weekend was on some other streaming network other than flogymnastics. It’s ridiculous what they want for a monthly subscription

If LSU hires Ashleigh Gnat when she finishes grad school, I will keep watching LSU gymnastics for a long time.

This is what Ruby performed at the olympics on floor. I recommend many watch it

I wish they would try to allow her to perform an arabian on floor instead of the front double full which seems to be nothing but trouble.

Ruby can be phenomenal on floor but I honestly don't like the structure and composition of her routine.

I think she pressed WAY too hard with her parents in BR for the first time to watch her at LSU and we saw it destroy her.

You can't perform in this sport by thinking way too hard, if "try" you will bobble around and fall

She was essentially out for an entire year since the olympic trials, which was before fall of 2016. So yes its been a while. I really do expect Desiderio to take over extremely soon. She is as talented as anyone on the team

Who the frick downvotes this?

On vault, hell no we will need to continue to push for difficulty.

Beam LSU has nice balance of difficulty. Its not too over the top but the reason DD switched to such difficulty recently is because before we were hammered in the post season for lack of it.

Floor, LSU does need the E level passes. We need scores to start from a 10.0 if possible. Believe it or not, a lot of times judges are much more lenient on routines that have way more difficulty. OU IMO was overscored a bit last year. Florida and UCLA had routines just as easy and they were hammered much more. It makes no sense, which is why the Florida coach bitched to the NCAA about it.

Difficulty the last four 5 years is also what has made LSU a top 3 team. Its difficult for others to maximize their scores to keep up with LSU's

well said, I think the judging has improved a lot since NCAA changes (9 years ago?) but still it is tough to understand, but not being an expert I often see little difference in difficulty..
