Besides the Saints and Pelicans are private businesses...
Even if LSU was self sufficient, football still sucks up resources that could be used elsewhere...
And while we're on this subject, the other schools in LA aren't immune... ULL Tech and ULM need those caps as well or drop themselves down to the lower division

LSU athletics (especially football) generates income. Think of a good HC as a good ROI. I think studies show that what Saban earns pales compared to what he generates from their success.
