And lurking is arguably the greatest player in G-league history.

Antonio Blakeney continues to amaze in the G-league, this past weekend earning first team honors in the four-day G-league showcase event for NBA teams. Blakeney had a 42-point game in the showcase. In regular season G-league play, he is averaging an all-time league best 35 points per game while shooting just under 40 percent on threes.

Wish he could've elevated his game like this at LSU. What do you guys think was holding it back? Once again, underachieving LSU stars lighting it up in the pros. Play on playa

Why are you even asking this question when it’s blatantly obvious the answer is Johnny jones

Blakeney could have been a 1st rounder had he played with Wade. He will be a long line of LSU players (in all sports) that left early to make solid money, but if would have waited could have made life changing money forever.

I understand Lonnie was just a terrible coach overall in most aspects, but was he really awful at developing talent too? I know developing talent and winning kinda goes hand in hand but what in particular did he do to stunt the growth of players like Blakeney etc

He didnt stunt anything. This is the same Blakeney that was at LSU. Plenty of players light up the g league.

A lot of people make jokes about coaches just rolling the ball out there and saying go play but in Jones’ case that literally what he did.

Yeah but not many are on pace to average the highest PPG in G/D League history by almost 4 PPG.

Well the answer is the obvious, Johnny Jones, but I think he showed how could he could be in the end of his freshman season. The problem in his sophomore season was the fact that he had literally no "proven" talent around him. He looked like the best player on a shitty AAU league team, which doesn't do much on showing off his skills. He can create his shot pretty well, no doubt, but he was the headliner on every scouting report zoning in on a bad team around him so it wasn't easy. He would have propelled this team to greatness if he would have stayed and possibly been a first rounder.

I mean he was a 5 star recruit (which usually is a good indication of first round talent) and we had him for a couple of years. Feel bad for the young man, with a better coach he could've potentially even been drafted.

bad college coach or not it still does not explain why he couldn't shoot the ball worth a crap in college and is suddenly a good shooter. That has nothing to do with coaching and everything to do with working on your game and your shot.

I’ve never seen a player work so hard to get open. He could have been a star under wade.

Will WAde isn't developing Antonio any better than Coach Jones, Sampson has just as much Talent as Antonio and he is being waisted by just sitting in the corner. Non factor on this years team. NBA game suits Antonio better and he works his tail off.

Antonio has told recruits he wished he'd stayed to get a year under Wade because it would have gotten him drafted higher.
