Because its a lot more expensive to field a baseball team than it is to field a basketball team for one

LSU makes solid money on meets but not enough meets to cover all of it

Nope. Assuming all $2.37m of Gymnastics’ expenses were fixed costs (they’re not), it would take 8.7 more home meets just to break even.

TV money. Plus, nationally, nobody really gives a crap about college baseball.

The CBS March Madness contract gives money to every school that plays basketball, not just the teams that make the field of 68.

“This agreement will provide on average more than $740 million annually to our conferences and member schools to help student-athletes in 23 sports learn and compete.”

Gymnastics is a major money loser for LSUAD. The Advocate reported last Spring that we lost over $2 million on Gymnastics.

Think about it: the things that make $$$ for SEC teams (and LSU) are TV contracts, tradition fund type fees, and ticket sales. Gymnastics makes very little revenue from any of those things. Note: Gym tickets are cheap.

i always bring up the other sports when people talk about paying college football players. there are only a couple dozen profitable college football teams and all the other sports have to get the same deal.

bullshite, but w/e.

Gymnist are true student athletes. They have the highest GPA of any group of athletes and highest graduation rate.
