I've been climbing a long time.

I've climbed Middleton and the Clock tower which are both in the quad.

Everest isn't climbing.

It's hiking.

I have nothing against hiking.

A lot of mountains have a lot of hiking involved, some are pure hikes. Many of those, even if a little bit of technical climbing is involved it's climbing. You still need skills to survive a lot of these "hikes".

I have zero interest in Everest. But the term climbing is a general term....

You should know that.

It's not like we're comparing Everest to most of the 14'ers in Colorado which are a pure hike.
