I understand pets. There is an obvious emotional attachment there.

But wild animals? Why the emotional attachment?

Why do some have no problem ripping a living fish out of the water to die an awful death in an ice chest, but would never shoot a deer with a rifle?

I don't get it.

Probably an emotional detachment from not seeing it take its last breath. You see a spec for a solid 2 seconds before it is out the water in an ice chest. The deer walks out you shoot and see it fall. I am not speaking for myself since I do both, but they watch that process and it is more “real” than not seeing it.

Oh and fish don’t make noise and show no emotion.

Again not speaking for myself, but to each their own.
