DJI released this video for the event.
It’s rumored that DJI will be releasing the Mavic Air and the Mavic Pro 2. The Mavic Air is supposed to be smaller than the Mavic but larger than the Spark with longer flight time and greater range than the Spark. Should also have 4K camera and 3 axis gimble. Expected price is supposed to be around $600-$800 which is essentially the middle ground between the spark and the Mavic pro.
I was thinking about grabbing a spark, but I think I’m going to wait to see what the Mavic Air has to offer. If nothing else, I’ll probably be able to grab a spark for cheap after the announcement.

Here's an article with some rumors (they seem less like rumors and more like guesses). LINK
According to the article, they are expecting better camera/gimble, longer flight time, faster, better obstacle avoidance, longer range, etc.

I am curious about drones. I have thought of getting one to fool around with. Are they worth it to the average person? What would be a good starter drone for beginners?

I had a Hubsan H501C and it was a great starter drone. It had GPS, a decent camera and great range. The H501S has the FPV camera so you can see where you're flying.

I dont have a drone. I was looking at the spark as my first drone. I will probably by a cheap husban to mess around with before flying a more expensive drone.

I have a colleague at work that said after his last firmware update, it no longer has decent range...anyone else hear that?

That's stupid. They should have introduced at the CES show when the worldwide press was in attendance.

Not sure about that, but they need less firmware’s. It’s a pain in the arse to upgrade.
