Saints are in a great position going forward

People that are worried about money do not really understand what has happened with the salary cap over the last 4-5 years. Next year's salary cap is projected to be around $178 million.
The reason I bring this up is because the cap has increased $8-12 million each season over the last 5-6 years without an increase in the roster size. So you still have a 53 man roster. Yes, you still have dead money.
But in addition to that. You have had the implication of a rookie pay scale system. If you look at the Saints current situation you have several key positions on the roster and on the field that are still under those rookie contracts and those save the Saints huge sums of money. It starts with good drafts and key free agent signings.
The Saints are in a great position because they have drafted well.
1) Rankins
2) Peat
3) Thomas
4) Ramcyzk
5) Williams, M
6) Lattimore
7) Kamara
8) Anzalone
9) Hendrickson
10) Crawley
11) Bell
12) Onyemata
All of these guys are on rookie contracts.

I ain't worried about money or the salary cap or any of that BS. My concern is that the main piece of your team is on the way out. We have good young talent, but finding a HOF QB is nearly impossible. You have to basically get lucky.

Totally agree, the team is young and cheap, money won't be a problem for us going forward the way it has been in the past.
And by the way, salary cap problems always seemed to be descending on the Saints but not actually landing. Feels like we were always able to get guys we needed when we needed them. I think bad drafts and bad positional coaching doomed this team for the last 5 years, not an inability to go out and sign FAs.

Minus the 39 year old quarterback.
If we are being real, he can fall off that edge at any point now. I'm hoping for two more good years.

A money guy
We have tons of starters on rookie contacts, which will help. What do you think about TE?
