The concerning part is that our offer was more substantial than the Alabama offer and they still went with Alabama. That's a troubling sign.
It’s more than just the incentives package that was the final determining factor for the state. Alabama has one of the most modern ports in the country and its set to undergo expansion. We can also ship anything anywhere in country within 2 days thanks to the rail system in this state. We have I believe 5 major interstate systems that connect to Birmingham. We also have more navigable water than most other states as well. Throw in the parts suppliers that have been strategically located around the state and you see why Alabama is so attractive to automobile manufacturers. We can supply them, build them and ship them anywhere in the world

The existing supplier network and being tied for 4th in the country in the number of automobiles produced even before this plant was announced is what tipped it over the edge in Alabama's favor over North Carolina and Louisiana among other states. That (the existing supplier base) is the one area that even North Carolina couldn't compete with Alabama on.
