Yea but they were second or third class citizens. Blacks weren’t citizens at all.
There has been no one disenfranchised like them, that’s the point people usually miss.

If you are being sincere, the Civil War ended over 160 years ago. It's not like they just got dumped out in the streets last week.
So to counter that immigrants who came here as citizens and were able to run successful businesses in 2nd and 3rd generations vs people coming out of non-citizen status...doesn't hold up.

Imagine taking a class/race/group of people, not teaching them even the basics like how to read or exist in a free capitalistic society, and dump them out of a bucket into society and say ‘ok, coexist with us and climb your way out of generations of slavery into productive members of society’.

At the point you describe in your first statement all of them were, and many were before.
And they at least spoke at least a type of English something many other immigrants who came with nothing didn't.

Except the people that were so expendable that they did the jobs deemed to strenuous or dangerous for even slaves.
GTFO with this shite.
The Great Society has destroyed the black community like no other factor.

Every race has been enslaved by another (sometimes their own race) at some point in history. This does not make African Americans’ experience special - just the more recent and therefore easiest to recall.
African Americans would do well to drop the collective guilt trip many of them are selling and just get on with getting a good education, getting married, and having kids. In that fricking order. Many good things will follow thereafter.
