Usually an upvote will do, but this needs to be repeated! How do people not understand that Trump's twitter no longer garners the same irrelevance as a game show host? He's the f'ing POTUS!
what you are witnessing is the democratization of the government, especially the Presidency
i don't know why people who support science and tech refuse to admit the implications of its widespread use
"acting Presidential" is an anachronism from a time when the plebs relied on filtered messages through connected middlemen (politicians and media, primarily). it was important to garner the support of these middlemen, who then distributed the information to the plebs to support/attack the political face. it's a standard from the past because now direct communication between political face and the pleb class is widespread, easy, and cheap.

If the POTUS made such unwise public comments after debate and careful consideration behind closed doors, people would think he's absolutely insane. The argument repeated in this thread is that Trump's tweets are inconsequential because they're just that, tweets.
The method of communication is not a problem. The I'll-advised content of the communication is the crux of the problem.
You can call it democratization of the Presidency, but it is really a skilled politician bloviating to satisfy an electorate that is incapable of understanding what needs to be done to advance the interests of the country.
