Sometimes I wonder how much if any blame rap has.

I think the average white kid hears rap and thinks it's just entertainment. I think some black kids see it as a blueprint for life.

I think fatherless homes are the bigger problem. Thomas Sowell wrote about this in one of his books. Blacks raised in 2 parent homes have the same economic success and incarceration rates as whites. Unfortunately, only 25% of blacks are raised in 2 parent homes vs about 70% for whites.

I can definitely see how rap music can leave an impression on young kids that have no real parental guidance/father figure in their lives.

I read an obituary for a drug dealer who had been gunned down a few years ago, in the obit the 10 year old son(one of 6 with 3 different moms) said how his dad always supported his dream of playing in the NBA and rapping. Those are realistic careers to pursue in bad areas.
