One Christmas, when I was a kid, I overslept and my family mistakenly went to Paris without me. While they were gone I had to protect our house from a couple of stupid burglars with booby traps.

Got caught on the runway in Denver when a huge snowstorm hit almost shutting down the airport. Had to be de-iced several times and the flight took off 3 hours late for Memphis, which was my connection. Landed in Memphis when the airport was closing down for the night. The entire flight was booked into a hotel. Took most of us 2 days to get out of Memphis because it was Xmas holidays.
Only positive was I hooked up with a sloot that was on my same flight. She was getting married in a week.

My wife missed a flight out of Dallas to SeaTac, then Juneau. She got caught in traffic and cut things too short.
Paid $1,500 for another ticket which flew to Anchorage then down to Juneau. I was so pissed.

Booked first class from Dallas to Sacramento. Got busy drinking outside of what I thought was our gate. It changed and I didn't check it. Got to the real gate and they had given up our seats. They had stuff in coach, but I said frick that, I paid for first. Booked us on a later flight that stopped in Phoenix but made it. That's the only one I've missed.
Oh I did miss one from DC to shreveport because I was so hungover. Bought a new ticket for $600 that stopped at Newark then Philly for the night. It sucked. I slept on the floor in a hallway.

Flew to Nola for a LSU-Gator game in the 90's. Drove to Baton Rouge for the game(a Gator victory) and then back to Nola. Partied in the Quarter. One of the guys in our group never came back to the room that night. We had reservations for brunch at Court of Three Sisters on Sunday. So 3 of us are there eating and in staggers the 4th member of our group. Drunk as hell. He comes back to the table with a plate full of scrambled eggs and watermelon. That's what he chose from the 100's of items they serve. So we go to leave for the airport and this doofus is moving like a snail. We haul arse to the airport and literally ran to our gate but they had already closed the door.
So we book another flight on an old arse prop plane that stopped in Pensacola, Tallahassee and finally home to Jax. The drunk idiot told me he would pay for my flight if I would go to Orange Park for beer when we got home. It was illegal to sell it on Sundays in Jax back then.
I went and bought beer.

I've had that happen flying from Denver to Aspen. Get to the correct gate only to find out the flight has been cancelled.

This is a safe place. You can admit that you were the drunk idiot.

Had an award flight from Dulles to Spain via Frankfurt. Get an automated call that the flight was cancelled 4/5 hours before departure. Plane never left Frankfurt due to snowstorm and they felt like not telling anyone until well after it was obviously not gonna make it.
Fire off some calls/emails to Lufthansa to no avail. By grace of God United is flying the same route an hour so later from Dulles and they accommodate us.
Get to Frankfurt and it's a mad house. I wasn't thinking and didn't report to Lufthansa for our Frankfurt to Barcelona leg. Obviously, they thought we were still in the US. Ticket doesn't scan, but somehow the staff managed the last two seats on the plane. Crisis averted, twice.
Lufthansa emails me back to try to help me....two months later.

Eta2: I still don’t understand why they fricked us making the connection. Not our fault the initial takeoff was delayed. Hold the fricking other plane instead of announcing on landing to rush to the train to make the connection lmao
Has this happen to me. I get why they have to take off but they could call ahead. My plane was late and about ten of us were rushing for the same flight. Took give minutes to get there and the desk wouldn't call ahead for us. Plane ended up leaving early and I made a scene. They gave me a spiel that the plane had left ten minutes ago. Plane was just leaving the gate

early 1990s, I was 20 I think; 6am flight to Cleveland, probably via BNA. Figured I'd stay up all night. Might have smoked a joint around midnight at the Sig Ep house with a frat friend (I wasn't in a fraternity).
I think I laid down at a different friend's (my ride to BTR) couch at an apartment on Jefferson at 3am and woke up at 5:45am.
I think it was American and I think they rescheduled me later that day for little or no charge.
Why don't you think me up a cup of coffee and one of those chocolate donuts with sprinkles...while you're thinking

Never missed a flight or connection.
Had to bust arse between A and D terminals in ATL to make a connection that was supposed to depart 15 mins after my incoming had landed. That was a lot of fun.

Flying back from Argentina, a brush fire came very close by the airport, which shut it down. We finally board our flight but miss the connection in Chile because of the delay. The airline said "not an act of God, so you are SOL". They tried to re-book us coach when we paid for business. I screamed in the best Spanish I could muster up (which was pretty bad). We get business class home. But, we had to make a stop and pick up more people at another airport in Venezuela . It was a long day!

Terrible experiences flying them the last two times. First time I thought it was a fluke and tried them again with the same results. No more for me.
