The minute I found out I had a Section 8 property in my neighborhood I'd be looking for a new house and neighborhood.

Not everyone utilizing Section 8 are bad people. However a large number of them are. Not worth the risk (or property value loss).

It's not so easy for everyone to move. When we bought our house, there was a vacant section 8 property on our block. When ghetto trashy tenants moved in, I reported them every time they did something I had a problem with. Within 2 months of the tenant cussing me out in broad daylight on a Sunday afternoon when I was 9 months pregnant, they had to move. The hud office (in New Orleans at least) takes complaints seriously. Now we have regular non trashy people living there. Doesn't bother me.
