Playing music from echo dot

My MIL gave both of my boys an echo dot for Christmas. They each set theirs up in their rooms. We have one individual prime account that includes Amazon music. Both are linked to that account. The issue is, they cannot listen to Amazon music separately at the same time.
Did anyone know a work around? Do I need to upgrade to a family plan or add another prime account?

You'll have to have a family plan or another account.

I saw this message on the Amazon website in regards to the family plan;
Prime Music, Prime Reading, Kindle First, the exclusive discount on video games, and purchased video subscriptions are not sharable.
That led me to believe that a family plan was not the solution.

I think he meant Amazon Unlimited family plan. The free solution would be to connect a spotify account(s) to the dots. LINK

I have the family plan and can confirm you can listen to amazon music in multiple rooms under one account. They are all linked to mine.

Amazon Music Unlimited family plan. It's only $5 a month more than your typical individual premium service cost (Amazon Music Unlimited individual, Pandora Premium, Spotify Premium, Google Play, etc.) of $10 a month and everyone's individual libraries will be available through the Echos with full Alexa integration and through the Amazon Music app on everyone's phone.
The Alexa integration with Amazon Unlimited is pretty slick. It knows who each family member is by voice, so they can walk up to any device and say "Alexa, play my music" and it will pick the proper music library for that person. Beyond that, it just has complete integration for playlist control, likes and dislikes, music requests ("Alexa, play me some angry music" or "Alexa, play me some relaxed music"), etc.
Also, just FYI, the music that comes as part of a Prime account has a rather limited catalog. It's about 2M songs. The Music Unlimited opens up tens of millions of songs. For instance, "Whiskey in the Jar" by Metallica isn't available on Prime Music, but it is available on Music Unlimited.
