the flag doesn’t give us our freedom
Right

Our soldiers do.
Wrong
Our freedom isn’t given to us at all. It was taken by our ancestors, and it’s maintained by us - at the voting booths.
And Abdul Rauf is anti-American. That’s his prerogative, but mine is to abjure him, and I do.

“That’s his prerogative, but mine is to abjure him, and I do.”
Absolutely
“It’s maintained by us-at the voting booths”
So true, Kim Jong would have attacked the US already if not for fear of all the voters

Okay, this is tiresome, but I’ll explain some of the basic elements of logic to you.
Would Kim be afraid of those soldiers if they were naked and unarmed?
Without bombs we could not maintain our freedom
Without guns we could not maintain...
Without soldiers, taxes, congressmen, factory workers...we could not maintain our freedom.
So can we just pick any of these nouns and write, “Anodized aluminum gives us our freedom”?
All demos have the power to be free, but exercising that power takes responsibility. That responsibility is evinced by educating oneself and exercising the voting franchise. THIS is the one indespensable condition for freedom.

quote:that there isn't oppression and racism? of course there is. the problem is people like him and kap claim there is systemic racism, which is patently false. you can't have systemic racism in a country when a minority person has been freely elected to the highest office of the land, TWICE. the two are mutually exclusive. we have lots of minorities occupying high level govt positions. as for non govt jobs, all i have to do is cite one example of a successful minority person to show the "system" isn't oppressing minorities.
Prove that he is wrong
if the racism isn't systemic, which it isn't, then it's episodic and it's stupid to make a systemic protest against something that's episodic. once you admit it's episodic, my question becomes where are you going to go that doesn't have episodic problems? no where. all things being equal, america is still BY FAR the best place to be and to protest the country that affords you the very freedom by which you are protesting is to saw off the log you are sitting on.
there's your proof

There are a whole lot of constitutionally-ignorant racists in this thread.
You can dislike the man because he is Muslim and doesn't worship the flag, but his intolerance is no great than your own.

Tourette Syndrome is horrible. When not engaged in the play he would let loose with random words. They put him on medication but I think it affected his play. I don't begrudge the guy anything.

I know how it works I’ve been in the Army over 22 years; it was a joke not a di*k, you shouldn’t take it so hard...I do enjoy that your first thought was naked soldiers. Maybe he would be afraid of naked soldiers. Usually when I show up naked unannounced people seem pretty afraid

Doing good works of charity, never being arrested, and paying more taxes than most of us ever will makes him a good enough American to me. The rest is just window dressing.

By not standing during a song? Really?
He exercised his Freedom as an American.
Maybe it is you who disrespects the flag and what it stands for.

My response is the same. Let freedom ring.
Also Kap gets blowback because his protest is tied to BLM. No one says that, but that is my belief.
When has taking a knee 3ver been viewed as disresptful?

Let me guess, you consider someone a racist for pointing out the fact that he is a member of a cult that subjugates anything and everything that does not comply with the teachings of said cult.

It’s not even given by the Constitution, it’s God given....
( that’s what the Constitution says anyway )

He's a Bible-belt Christian?

He was actually a devout Christian before converting and used to hand out turkeys on Christmas and Thanksgiving with Dale Brown to poor people. He had Dale turn off the rock and roll as they drove by churches because it was offensive to God.

I believe Shaqdouche was the first to introduce him to Islam.

Anyone who joins the racist Nation of Islam should be shunned no less than someone who joins the KKK.

Jackson fouled out thinking he had one to give. Not the smartest player to walk on the LSU floor.

Read your Constitution, look for God (or Creator, religion, etc.), and come back.
For the so many others in this thread:
1) Do you know what freedom is?
2) Do you know what liberty is?
3) Imagine that your race has been treated the way black people have been in this country (even now) and tell me if your feeling about America isn’t at least a little complicated.
Don’t get me wrong. People can feel whatever they like about these protesters with the same freedom. Also, generally only the government is bound by things like the 1st Amendment. The NFL, NBA, etc. can legally make its employees comply or dismiss them.
