You want to force factories to hire salesmen and have service departments? They don't want to deal with the public because the public is stupid.

Why would any individual factory be forced to do it? Car salesman detected

This. I'm not real excited about taking my new car to Gary the grease-monkey to have him fix a minor problem that he possible could turn into a major problem because of no service dept. locally of the car company. I've already been that route. Fool me once...

This would be something that would have to change. The Service Departments at dealerships would transition to independent authorized warranty repair shops.

This is a consumer question. Do consumers really want to pay the overhead so that they can see, feel, test drive their vehicle before the purchase?
