Monmouth poll that shows 50% think they won't receive tax cuts

Am I crazy, or will this poll be absolutely devastating to both the Democrats and the mainstream media if/when 80% or more of those who pay federal income taxes see a tax reduction and an overall increase in their take-home pay?
It really seems like the Dems are doubling down on a very bad hand here.
Am I overthinking this?

Follow up - it's clear that the Democrats' pivot if/when their narrative goes sideways is to have the MSM point out "well these cuts are temporary - they will 'sunrise'" in 2024.
That's not a great argument IMO either. 2024 is lightyears away politically speaking.

Most people are easily influenced and not very bright. Even if they bring home more money, they'll be convinced they arent

Two things. It speaks to how bad the republicans are at getting their message out and the need for 45's tweets. Second is I agree absolutely terrible for dems. Once the public sees them for the liars they are trust will continue to erode in the dems and the media

Also it's very tough to get over a bad first impression and the House bill was a sharp stick in a lot of people's eyes. Most of the pain was dulled out in the Senate and conference but the damage was done.

It reminds me of the polls where many people said they hated Obamacare, but liked the Affordable Care Act. Regardless of which side of the aisle they're on, Americans are really poorly informed.

this should really keep expectations low
the idea that people are in a position to notice a decreased tax liability such that they can reward the party who made that happen is a little bit of wishful thinking, I believe

I agree the GOP message is abysmal, but maybe that will turn into a positive on this singular issue.
There's literally going to be like 40% of the population who is pleasantly surprised when they see their paychecks in a few months and they're going to realize that they were lied to blatantly by celebrities, MSM, and Democrats.
The takeaway is that probably just about every independent / moderate / "swing" voter in the country is contained within this 40% who has been misled by the left.
It could potentially bring on a huge anti-Dem backlash for the midterms.

I think so to. It will still come down to a PR battle for influence despite any positive outcomes.

My thinking exactly. I believe the more people who don’t believe they’ll get a tax cut and do, the better it is for the conservatives!

Why do you lie? The house Bill had bigger kickbacks for the middle class.
fricking piece of shite.

I don’t think he even realizes he is posting lies at this point. He is too far gone.

If true, this is the product of extreme fake news.

Hmm. Probably 47%, that don’t pay taxes.

40% can’t receive a tax cut because they don’t pay tax

And the democrats are the only ones who would vote against making the cuts permanent in 2014.
“Oooh this republican bill is bad because it leaves us (democrats) with an opportunity to screw you over in 6 years”
