re: .308 vs .270. Which should I get?

Either are great calibers. .270 will be a flatter shooting bullet at longer ranges. I shoot a .308, my hunting buddy shoots a .270. difference at the ranges you are talking would be negligible. Ammo is plentiful for both, local off the shelf options would probably depend on whats in favor in your area.
