Honestly, jeans are impossible to buy for another person. I would consider a gift card to a place he can go to buy his own or a different gift. I know my sizes, but it changes with each brand, cut, etc.
I hate jean shopping with a bitter passion. Had to get a new pair this past week. Tried on over half a dozen before I found something that fit right.

I also share your frustration with jean shopping. And I normally love shopping...just not when I need new jeans.

I can barely buy them for myself. I never know if they fit right until I wear them a couple times.
