...but not what the constituents want.
I don't think he even knows what the implications and possibilities fix NICS would bring with it. (many veterans and good people will get the shaft on the 2nd amendment

Dear Mr. Pepperidge :
Thank you for your recent letter regarding S. 2135, the Fix NICS Act of 2017. This is an important topic and I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.
As you may know, this legislation aims to ensure federal and state authorities comply with existing law and accurately report relevant criminal history records to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). S. 2135 penalizes federal agencies who fail to properly report relevant records and incentivizes states to improve their overall reporting.
I believe effective enforcement of current law, as well as directing resources to treatment for the mentally ill is imperative to address the issue of mass shootings. That being said, I will continue to balance the fight for our Second Amendment rights for our law abiding citizens with prevention of abuse by criminals.
I will continue to represent the views of my state and do so through hearing from constituents like you. Please continue to reach out, either by phone or by email, when you have another question or concern. You can reach my office in Washington DC at 202-224-5824 or submit an email at LINK .
Sincerely,
Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D.

My take is his response is the perfect example of political doublespeak--it doesn't say anything.

Am I missing something somewhere or is the initial letter written to Cassidy available to read? Just thought it'd be a key piece of information included in the OP before anyone could respond to a response.

I'll admit I'm not familiar w/ the aforementioned S. 2135, the Fix NICS Act of 2017. What does is do? Are you for, or against it, and why?

OP is talking about it hurting Veterans.
Cassidy mentioning "directing resources to treatment for the mentally ill is imperative to address the issue of mass shootings."
Just a guess. Makes me wonder if this new law might classify some disorder related to combat, like PTSD, as a mental health problem that might keep that person from buying guns.
I wonder about guys suffering from Combat PTSD serving in law enforcement. Some active duty guys I know say they think guys with that condition might not need to be in those positions.

No, he looks like Simon Bar Sinister from the Underdog cartoon.
He has the same maniacal grin. Looks his craziest when he's happy. His eyes make him look like he never sleeps. That makes him look like a running from the devil guy. Might just be a mad man.

Cassidy may or may not know what he's doing on that particular issue. But he's never been a "gun guy"
