What are they doing when they “tell the dog goodnight”?
Is it in its bed?
Are they patting it on the head?
Sounds like something is triggering the behavior, may just need time for the dog go feel comfortable

Yes dog laying on bed. They walk up call his name and squat down. They reached out to pet him the first night but not since. As soon as they squat down he growls. The dog is completely opposite with me and the wife. I really hope he settles as he becomes more comfortable in his new environment.
