It's not just the women. You have to pay everyone.

The NCAA will never do this, because they don't have to.

There is a very small percentage of players, mostly the elite football and basketball players, that are worth more than their scholarships and other benefits to the school.

The other 99 percent are worth less than their scholarships to the school.

So, all these people talking about "worth" and "market value" will be very disappointed with that model. Most athletes would end up owing the school.

As much as people criticize the whole concept of amateurism and how it's all bullshite when applied to the student-athletes, it really is a blessing to all parties involved: student-athletes don't have to pay taxes on their scholarships which covers the full cost of attendance, I even think they get some type of stipend for "laundry money" and in most cases are paid under the table so it isn't like they're living destitute and they know the risks with that and amateurism legally protects the NCAA and her schools from years of litigation and prosecution pertaining to antitrust law and Title IX. Paying student-athletes officially just won't work unless all these labor and civil rights laws are repealed and that sure as hell ain't gonna happen anytime soon.
