OP seemed to be asking what we think. I think that presidents these days don't tend to get more popular as their presidencies age. I think Trump's presidency to date has largely been regarded as subpar--across the board among adults. I think as of the most recent polling, he was sitting at about 50% approval in the state of Alabama.

I think he'd comfortably win against a generic democrat (not the OP's question apparently, though) but it'd would likely be by a lower margin. A lot of people who voted for Trump did so on faith that he'd "become presidential."

He's gotten worse.
