I had this debate with someone before the season. I told them that coaching, especially in the NBA is way overvalued. I listen to a show from Houston called the Blitz where they do a weekly talk with RJ Bell. He was talking about a ranking system that they have for coaches and they assign value based on +/- victory totals for each coach. The highest, at that time, was Kerr and his value was put at +6. Which would mean he would only add 6 wins a season.
For those that think coaching really is that critical. All you have to do is look at Rick Carlisle. Carlisle is one of the most brilliant basketball minds and is a tremendous coach. But his team is one of the worst in the leagues. You need talent to win and it has to fit together.

And the players have to be mature/hold themselves accountable. The craziest thing I read all the time is that the coach didn't motivate them for the game. This is their career! They get paid millions. If another man has to motivate you, you is a biatch
