Sumlin is tainted and appears to be on his way down. That's why I don't think he would be successful at ULL. I don't think he's looking for a springboard, I think he's looking for a landing spot.

The coordinators are looking for a springboard. They want to be on the way up. And for the sake of the program long term, they need a coach to come in, win, and get a bigger job. I thought Hud was going to break the streak, but there have still been no coaches hired away from the school in my lifetime.

what, if anything, does Sumlin offer? he was kind of exposed at TAMU as being OC-dependent...as a former OC and offensive guru

that coaching style can work in the SEC but not at a ULL-level program, due to resource limitations

a guy like Orlando just went from Houston DC to Texas DC and is trying to become a HC. stratospheric rise and that's the kind of trajectory you want as ULL. you want the guy who has the talent to be an SEC coach, not the guy who was just fired for failing at being an SEC coach

SLI/USL/ULL has never had a HFBC leave for a better job
