He’s fricking awful and always has been.
LaMelo’s career has been sabotaged and any chance that he had at becoming a functional NBA player has been greatly diminished by playing on a sub-par AAU team, missing out on his junior year, and going pro at 16 with a huge target on his back.
I bet they will end up in either Japan or a second tier European league (Belgium, Germany, a bad Israeli team) where they will do very poorly.

LaMelo has no chance of going pro unless he sprouts to 6’6 like Lonzo. 6’1 combo guards are a dime a dozen. He is not an elite athlete nor does he do anything really special. He was a gunner on a shitty AAU team in the YouTube era.
